I planned to write this post right after we came back from Israel, but life happened in the meantime and as I am going back to Tel Aviv in January I thought now is the time for it (before I discover new places!!).
If there is one dish that you can’t miss while in TLV it will have to be the Shakshuka. Dish with disputed origins but definitely from the countries around the Mediterranean sea with eggs in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers and garlic, and commonly spiced with cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper and nutmeg. It might not sound like much but I promise you will want to bake some for breakfast when back home! TLV is also famous for its fish restaurants and its bars. In no specific order, here are my top 5 food and drink places in TLV:
Bar Ochel
Where: HaCarmel St in the market, starting the street from the north, you will find the restaurant on the left hand side midway through the market What: SHAKSHUKA!!! and draft beer (they only had one dessert on the menu but it was delicious) Why: Great atmosphere, very nice staff, outdoor space, perfect location to do some people watching!
The Old Man and the sea
Where:Jaffa, old port What:the salad selection (pictured at the top of the post) ! but obviously the meat/fish grills and the homemade lemonade. Why: Some might say it is way too touristy but hey if eating delicious fish and meat with a selection of salads that you didn't even know existed, outside in a port with an amazing service means it is touristy it is fine by me.
מזנון Miznon
Where: King George St 30 perfect break on your way back from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art What:Pita and sodas Why: small restaurant with tables outside, quick, easy and delicious !!
Paspartu
Where:Jaffa market, Rabi Khanina St 7 What:delicious cocktails and draft beers. Why:a bar with live music played on the pavement, chill vibe.

Anita Cafe La Mamma del Gelato
Where:Neve Tzedek שבזי פינת, Pines St 40 What: Ice cream ! Why: Probably the best selection in town, opens late so perfect for a late one after dinner.

I can’t wait to go back and test the other addresses also recommended to me such as The Shaffa Bar, Cuckoos nest, Herzl bar… Let me know what are your top 5 in Tel Aviv in the comments below and I will for sure visit them next time !
